#11634 closed enhancement (worksforme)

"Share..." menu item creates non-shareable links (Google Drive)

Description

The "share" menu item generates non-shareable links ending with "usp=drivesdk", however the status should be "usp=sharing". Please, fix this because otherwise it defeats the purpose of sharing. "drivesdk" is just a reference to the resource on Google Drive available only for the owner, not the world.

Hi, thanks for reaching out.

I just created a regular sharing link on a file which automatically sets the sharing link permissions to "Everyone" with "Comment Only"-permissions. This link (with query parameter usp=drivesdk) does not have any effect on whether that file is accessible to other users - it works just fine in incognito mode.

I checked folders, regular files (.docs, and .pdf) and Google Docs. Every share link I create is available for other users.

Using the "Copy URL"-menu won't work as those are restricted to your account. The "Share"-menu (which opens a dialog to copy the URL) works fine.
