I use CyberDuck Version 2.8.4 (3470) on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.4 I found that if a password starts with a 'w' then a string of '*' is entered into the password field -removed of course as the password is entered further- the 'w' is dropped from the beginning of the password.
Haven't had any trouble with any other password or using a 'w' elsewhere in a password.
