If I set my default editor to SubEthaEdit but have also Smultron installed, it will use Smultron instead of SubEthaEdit.

@dkocher commented

If the default editor for a given file type (as set in the Finder.app using File Get Info) is a supported editor in Cyberduck, it will be preferred over the default editor set in the Preferences.
