bcbb62d created the issue

On (hosting) server is the old cache directory with about 25000 subdirectory and every subdirectory contains one directory etc. By erasing process CyberDuck hangs, processor later is very warm and processor activity is 106%.

This is expected. We would need to support a recursive delete command like proposed in #3328.
