Hi! I have problem with Cyberduck 3.3b1 for Snow Leopard.

Maybe you can help me with finding way, how to change app language. I'd like to use english version with polish interface in Snow Leo. David wrote that it's posible in info panel of cuck app (under finder app). when I select Duck and press cmd-I, or select info under File menu of Finder, there are no language options

Looks like the language options were removed from Finder.app Info panel in 10.6. You can remove them manually by choosing Show Package Contents and delete Contents/Resources/pl.lproj.

Latest build 5229 - still no help for this misterious bug - I have tested it in polish, but I think russian version suffers too.

It has been noted before that the localizations work when the application is launched using sudo. It may also behave differently if you use the following from a Terminal.app window. Let me know what the results are.

Because this works for some when running with superuser privileges, I suspect this is a confguration issue with the user account and not a broken localization per se. Would you mind trying to launch Cyberduck from a newly created account? (Create new account in System Preferences → Accounts, logout and login again with that test account). If that works we'll have to search what difference there is between the accounts.

I tried that few seconds ago. I create new account and run cyberduck with no effect. The same happened as on my main account. Cyberduck run but without main window.

Known workaround is to type open Cyberduck.app in a Terminal.app window instead of double clicking the application in the Finder.app. When trying to replicate this issue, one has to restart the Finder.app after changing the locale preference.

It's not a workaround working in 100%, opening Cyberduck (build 5270) via Terminal gives the same result, no main window and grayed-out menu items.

Cyberduck work fine with sudo:

but without the sudo Cyberduck does not work.

I don't matter russian language in Cyberduck. So I made a dirty hack:

  • renamed Cyberduck.app/Contents/MacOS/Cyberduck into Cyberduck.app/Contents/MacOS/Cyberduck.bin
  • created shellscript Cyberduck.app/Contents/MacOS/Cyberduck with the following contents:
#!/bin/sh

export __CF_USER_TEXT_ENCODING=0x1F6:0:0
$0.bin
  • made it executable

And now I can use Cyberduck as usual only with standard English locale

Thanks for posting this! Based on this information, an easier workaround is to move away the file .CFUserTextEncoding in your users home folder.

cd ~; rm .CFUserTextEncoding

It will be recreated when you shuffle around the preferred localizations in system preferences. You will have to restart the Finder.app after removing the file. Warning: I don't currently know what implications this has to other applications.

The issue still persists in Beta 3 for the Japanese locale. An updated fix is available as a nightly build (Version 3020217 or later) that should work.
