I followed your instructions here:

If you can find the message No matching version for 'JVMVersion' (1.5) in 'Java' from Info.plist in the system.log (open Console.app from /Applications/Utilities), run the system software update of OS X (from the Apple menu) to update your Java installation.

And, my "Console" does reveal this error, but when I run the System Software update, it says no updates required. Any idea on how to update the Java software manually?

Download the 3.3 beta or the latest nightly build for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard compatibility. No automatic update is available yet.
