In Finder, one can rename a file by clicking the filename once; after a beat, it's editable. I believe this is the most intuitive way of renaming versus popping open the Info window or pressing Return when a filename is highlighted.

Any chance this feature could be implemented, or any plans to do so?

I don't like this behavior in the Finder.app.
