Drag and drop from Finder fails #6253
Comments
Can you find any related output in the |
No, just tested it again.. Maybe I should describe this in bit more detail.. Normally (On my old mac with Leopard) when you drag a file from Finder to to CyberDuck (CD) the CD window gets focus and a blue outline appears around the drop target. This is not happening. There is no response from CD to the drag.. When you then try and "drop" the file, it "bounces" back to Finder, that's all.. no errors or other response. I then dropped back to an older version (3.4.1) that I used on Leopard and tested that.. Same problem. My first guess is that there is a issue between Finder/OSX and Java with respect to a Drag and Drop..?? Anyway, Let me know if I can test anything for you on this.. |
I cannot replicate any drag and drop issues on 10.7. I can just suggest to restart both Cyberduck and Finder. |
I did both countless times before I ever posted here. Also restarted the OS several times. One thing I did do before I discovered this might mean something.. Lion does not come with Java "out of the box" so I downloaded the update and installed. I then discovered that the update did not include 1.5 which I need for several apps I use daily.. (JBuilder for one). So, based on some posts I found I used Pacifist to install it and then a number of suggested configurations. I have Java SE 6 (64bit) first on the list (tried it with the 32bit first, no diff). As an experiment I put J2SE 5.0 first and CD would not start. The I reinstalled CD 3.4.1 and it would start under 5.0.. BUT it still has the Drag and Drop failure.. (BTW on my Leopard machine 5.0 is first and everything works fine) I also configured Java to have the Console come up, but that did not seem to happen as yet.. (Yes, restarted everything, also tried and OS restart) Anyway, I tried all combinations of Java and CD and none of then allow for Drag and Drop. Do you think there is something here that is an issue or is there any other testing you can suggest..?? Really miss the Drag and Drop, so if there is anything I can do to track this down, let me know.. |
I did some more research on general Drag and Drop problems with Lion and found a number of posts on the Apple forums. Apparently there has been a number of problems with Lion in this regard. There where a number of things to try and I finally found that doing a Permissions repair and restart fixed my problem.. All is well that ends well.. |

Thanks for looking into this and good to know you could resolve this issue. |

Dragging and dropping from Finder does not work.. Files just "bounce" back to finder.
