using mac pro with osx lion 10.7.2. cyberduck will no longer open. repaired permissions and key chain to no avail.

Can you find any related output in the system.log (/Applications/Utilities/Console.app)?

Try to reinstall Java for Mac OS X 10.7 Update 1.
