Hello,

this may be loosely related to Issue #7113, but I believe it is still different. I have a machine running Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2. I downloaded and installed the current JRE from java.com, which is Java 7 Update 15 as of now.

When typing "java -version" in Terminal, Mac OS still pretends that there is no Java installed and offers to install Java 6 from Apples Update Servers. However Id prefer not to bother with Java 6 any longer as Oracle will cease public support for Java 6 within the next weeks and Apple will probably follow this. Plus, there is no simple solution for removing Java 6 cleanly once it is installed on a Mac.

Launching Cyberduck it seems to use the routines from Apple to check for a Java version installed. Consequently it misses the already installed Java 7 SE JRE as well and asks the user to install Java 6 (which seems to be a bad advice meanwhile).

Or is it a simple misunderstanding: Does Cyberduck require the Java 7 SE JDK to be installed instead of the JRE?

Either fix or a hint the FAQ what to do to use Java 7 are appreciated a lot.

Bye, Christian

The latest snapshot build for Mac now requres OS X 10.6 or later, a 64Bit Intel Processor [1] but no Java installation requirement.
