When I try to use SFTP with a private key id_rsa (password protected) the first pop-up window asks for a password to FTP and the second one asks for a passphrase (for my private key file). the second popup already has a username in it - the same as my FTP username - but it doesn't work "Login Failed". I know for a fact that my passphrase is correct. But what should I use for my username?

It will only ask for the passphrase of your private key and display an additional prompt only if the login with that private key fails. Contact your hosting service provider for assistance.
