The closed ticket #8910: Mac installer format kicked back my reply.
Thank you for your quick answers. I guess I have not picked up on average users being confused by Disk Images. I’m sure I don’t interact with nearly as many as you! Not to beat the dead horse, but the “internet enabled” disk image would do what you do with zips now. Safari automatically removes the app from the dmg and moves the dmg to the trash. DropDMG can create them, or in terminal; hdiutil internet-enable -yes “/path/to/Cyberduck.dmg"
I suppose making any change at all might confuse some users, or raise questions at a minimum. I understand if you’d rather leave it alone. I saw your note about the autopkg recipe and will look into that. I need to ensure that it pulls its source from you direct and doesn’t use any spurious source. Its really pretty trivial to deal with anyway, I just thought if the original file from you was natively in the needed format it would be ideal.
If this reopens the ticket by all means close it. Thanks for your time and thoughts, and especially your talent creating this great tool.

Duplicate for #8910. If there is really a need, adding an installer to our builds is not a real issue. Then please reopen the original issue. When using the receipts, make sure the URLs reference our SSL sites such as https://version.cyberduck.io/ and https://update.cyberduck.io to obtain version information and packages.
