The "Transfers window" contains progress of file transfers. It may contain several items that about to be transferred due to concurrent transfer limit.
In any case clicking at different items (Mac OSX 10.10.5) seems not to change "selected" item as long as the mouse does not touch the scroll bar or scrolling the contents of transfer windows is not triggered by mouse scroll or a gesture.

Similarly the contents of the window are refreshed very seldom - to see the Transfer progress (transferred MB's) seems to require scrolling the window.
