When connecting to a server that is only accessible through a VPN, when the VPN disconnects, things become a bit buggy.

The server will still appear connected

If a finder window is open, it will freeze, and after a little while close.

When clicking the network volume icon, will have a 'Connection failed - DNS lookup for damian-server.eecs.ucf.edu failed. DNS is the network service that translates a server name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing access to the network.' error message displayed. Clicking cancel through, does not stop the connection, the message will keep reappearing.

It would be nice if there was an option to specify if a connection is VPN and treat it differently.
For example, my VPN's security policy causes it to disconnect when it detects that is been idle for too long.

We have fixed the connection failure alert to disconnect and unmount the volume when choosing Cancel.
