Wildcard SSL certificates are used by many hosts. I intermittently (every other time this comes up) receive a spinning wheel of death when attempting to save my trust of the certificate. Flow to recreate:
Connect to S3.
Double click a static website bucket.
Pop up: “A failure occurred during certificate trust verification. Please specify the trust settings for the certificates that need updating. The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be “example.com.s3.amazonaws.com” which could put your confidential information at risk. Would you like to connect to the server anyway?”
Click Show Certificate
Check “Always trust “*.s3.amazonaws.com” when connecting to “example.com.s3.amaz…”
Click Continue
Prompt for Mac Username & Password (with Cyberduck icon over the lock image and text “You are making changes to your Certificate Trust Settings. Type your password to allow this." - this is where it hangs up and I am unable to enter my password. Force quitting Cyberduck does not solve the problem and I have to reboot.
