Transfer status freezes

This morning I was transferring 9.9GB from the office with very good connectivity. I was getting 4.6MB/s at one point. I went to lunch and came back to find the status of the transfer frozen and no light activity on my drives. I've let it run an additional 3 hours and no change. I'm not sure where the transfer left off so I'm likely to delete and start over. Stopping and resuming my transfer doesn't seem to change the situation.

Started and stopped the transfer and its now starting from the beginning versus where it left off.

same results this time it hung at 2.9GB uploaded for a couple hours before I stopped it.

Can you find any related output in the system.log (/Applications/Utilities/
