Cyberduck Help / Howto / Swift (OpenStack Object Storage)

Connect to a Swift (OpenStack Object Storage) installation.

Providers

Rackspace UK

You should be able to connect by configuring the hostname to lon.auth.api.rackspacecloud.com. There is also a blog post Howto use Cyberduck with Rackspace Cloud UK.

Internap XIPCloud Storage

Sign up for Internap XIPCloud Storage

Currently XIPCloud is in beta and charging $.01/GB storage with free upload and download. (This will change after beta period, but will be competitive with other cloud providers.)

  1. Download and install the Cyberduck client on your machine.
  2. After installation, open the Cyberduck client.
  3. From the list of connection types, select: ‘Swift ’ (OpenStack Object Storage).
  4. Enter the following information
    • Server: auth.storage.santa-clara.internapcloud.net
    • Port: 443
    • Username: [email address used to create XIPCloud Storage account]
    • Password: [your XIPCloud Storage password]
    • Under “More Options” specify the following Path: v1.0

On your first login, you will need to create at least one container (folder) to put your content in. On the File menu select New Folder and specify a name. After the container has been created, you may start adding your content to the storage platform.

For more user information please log in to the XIPCloud User Portal

Context Path

To change the context of the URL from the default /v1.0, use defaults write ch.sudo.cyberduck cf.authentication.context <string>.

Distribution (CDN)

You can enable Amazon CloudFront (Content Delivery Network) distribution using File → Info → Distribution (CDN).

Problems

Please report any incompatibilities you encounter and provide feedback if you have a Swift installation.
